2023 Art Adventures: Nature Collages in the Style of Eric Carle (6–8yr. old class)

Students will look at artwork by author and illustrator Eric Carle, then design their very own nature-inspired artwork inspired by him. We will use crayons, watercolors, and cut paper to create fun and colorful collages about their favorite things to see outside!

2023 Art Adventures: Creating Comics (9–11yr. old class)

In this class, students will learn about creating comics. We will talk about what makes a good story, how to take inspiration from your own life, and how to do various comic-related drawing activities. Students will then create their very own short comic, drawing on an experience they’ve had in their community!

2023 Art Adventures: Colorful Clay Fish (6–8yr. old class)

Students will use air dry clay to create a variety of fun clay fish, and will have the option to later assemble their fish into a wind chime or a hanging mobile. Students will learn about local fish species and can design their fish to match real-life species or come up with their own whimsical designs!

2023 Art Adventures: Creating Bird Eyes with Clay (9–11yr. old class)

In this class, students will learn about and practice drawing different birds’ heads and eyes, studying shape and texture. Students will then create a unique bird eye sculpture, using a flat glass piece and watercolors to make the eye itself, and then use air dry clay to shape the feathers around their eye base.

This class will be a continuation of Week 6, and students will paint their dried Clay Fish and be able to do the final assembly into mobiles or wind chimes. For the rest of the class session students will create their own Nature Journals, with sections for painting, sketching, and other fun activities to do outside. (Will be used if students choose to attend the Week 8 Outdoors Class)
