About Us
Service Extension brings Salvation Army basic needs programs to areas without a local Worship and Service Center. Local service units are supervised by a field representative and strengthened by community members who volunteer their time. Funding comes from our kettle campaign, individual donors, corporations, community groups, and United Way - all who want to ensure there is help available when a crisis occurs.
As a leader in faith-based human services, The Salvation Army intervenes in times of crisis to stabilize and transform lives. Our six areas of service include meeting basic needs, housing, counseling, rehabilitation, disaster relief, and youth development. The Northern Division serves anyone in need in Minnesota and North Dakota. “WHAT?? It’s not even Thanksgiving yet!” That may be true, but as COVID-19 spreads -- homelessness, hunger, and hopelessness expand exponentially.
We need to be diligent in our efforts to enlist help from the community starting today.
To short-circuit this bleak outlook and help those in need, the Salvation Army Christmas Campaign will begin on "the new Black Friday", November 13th.
For years now, Pope County residents have opened their hearts and pocketbooks.
To continue this tradition “Bell Ringers” are needed for ringing at Tom’s Market in Glenwood and Starbuck locations. Interested?
Call Becky Schlangen at (320)219-8270, and she’ll put you on the team so you can “Ring the Bell” for the Salvation Army and “HELP RESCUE CHRISTMAS!”
Every donation provides help and hope to those in need, and all gifts stay within the community in which they are given. Visit SalvationArmyNorth.org to donate or learn more about how you can help The Salvation Army rescue Christmas for someone in need this year. If you need services or know of someone who does, please visit SalvationArmyNorth.org to find a Salvation Army service center near you.
