2024 Magical Christmas in Glenwood
Lighted Holiday Parade
Thursday, December 5, 2024
 
  • 4:45-5:15 p.m. - Parade participants, staging and line up at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church parking lot located off of 1st Street NW, Glenwood.
  • 5:15 p.m. -  Parade units begin to line up at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Parking lot and 1st Street NW
  • 5:30 p.m. - Parade begins
All entries are judged along the parade route for the "Best Holiday Spirit" Traveling Trophy!

Lighted entries can include lights, candles, flashlights, glow sticks, etc. Be creative and make this Magical Christmas in Glenwood Lighted Holiday Parade something fun and enjoyable for your team members and the entire community!

Parade Rules:
  1. Please, no live Santa or Mrs. Claus with your unit!! The Fire truck at the beginning of the parade will feature Santa Claus in the parade.  Santa figurines, inflatable Santa’s and decorations are acceptable. 
  2. Lineup will be at the Sacred Heart Church parking lot.  Units will be placed in the lineup at the discretion of the committee member(s). 
  3. 5:30 p.m. Parade begins on 1st Street NW and proceed on Minnesota Avenue  to 2nd  Street NE.  Parade participants are asked to exit Minnesota Avenue left on 2nd Street NE by City Hall and go back down to Sacred Heart Church parking lot to unload and tear down.  If walking you can take the closet route back to Sacred Heart Catholic Church parking lot.  Vehicles and floats need to take 2nd Street NE to 6th  Avenue take left and go by the storage sheds and Thrivent and turn left back on First Street NW to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Parking Lot.
  4. All parade participants should dress according to the weather. 
  5. Units can walk, pedal or be motorized.  All that is required is that they’re lighted and reflect the holiday spirit. 
  6. Candy, coupons or brochures may be handed out along the sides of the Minnesota Avenue. Candy can be thrown, but depending on the weather handing it out maybe easier for the children. 
  7. Any animals in the parade must have a “clean-up crew”. 
  8. The judges will be along the parade route.  Units will be judged on “Best Holiday Spirit”.  The winner will receive the traveling trophy. 
  9. Cancelations due to severe weather will be announced by noon on parade day.                           
  10. If we have to cancel we will make the announcement by noon on Thursday, December 5,  We will try to reschedule.
