West Central Initiative Launches Application for Resiliency Fund Grants

Grants to focus on creating a more sustainable and equitable region

FERGUS FALLS, MINN — West Central Initiative is accepting applications now through April 13 for Resiliency Fund Grants. Grants will focus on organizations working to create a more sustainable and equitable region.

“Two years have passed since we established the Resiliency Fund to respond to the immediate pandemic needs of our region and the long-term recovery of west central Minnesota,” said West Central Initiative President Anna Wasescha. “This grant round refines our original focus to two critical areas: sustainability and equity. Both tie directly to the Sustainable Development Goals, the heart of our strategic plan.”

Most grants will range from $3,000 to $10,000—although some may reach up to $25,000 based on scope, need, and impact. West Central Initiative will host virtual information sessions on March 25 and March 31 to walk through the guidelines and be available to answer questions. You can view the grant guidelines and application and register for an information session at wcif.org/resiliency-fund-grants

A team of peers with lived experience and expertise in sustainable and equitable development will review proposals and recommend awards.

Last month, West Central Initiative awarded $100,000 in Resiliency Fund Grants to nine organizations that connect people with food, shelter, and other necessities. “That brings the total amount to more than $700,000 that our Resiliency Fund has provided in relief to our region,” said Wasescha.

To donate to the Resiliency Fund, visit wcif.org/give. Your gift, of any amount, contributes to the economic and community health of west central Minnesota. Donations to the Resiliency Fund are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by the law.

“Driven by our strategic priorities and connected to the Sustainable Development Goals, grants are just one of many resources we offer to support our region’s families, communities, organizations, and businesses,” said Wasescha.
